Can a Complete Size Comforter Fit a Queen Size Bed?

Even though a full-sized bed has the exact same length and width irrespective of model or manufacturer, a full-sized comforter doesn’t — its dimensions differ from brand to brand or perhaps style to design. When some comforters designed for a complete bed may fit to a queen bed, the match might appear a bit short, especially if you want the comforter to hang over the edges of the mattress and down its sides.

Measuring Up

A full-sized mattress has dimensions of 54 inches wide by 75 inches long. Queen-sized beds are larger in both dimensions at 60 inches wide and 80 inches long. One brand of full-sized comforter can quantify 84 inches wide and 90 inches for example, compared to 94 inches wide and 90 inches long for a queen-sized version. But another manufacturer’s comforter may provide 92 inches in width and 90 inches in length for a full-sized version, in contrast to 92 inches wide and 106 inches long for the queen version.

Check It Twice

Check the measurements listed on the full-sized quilt packaging prior to purchasing, or quantify an existing quilt to specify if it’s long and wide enough to match a queen-sized mattress to your liking. Since the dimensions vary greatly from brand to brand, it’s likely to find products which can accommodate either bed nicely, as a few comforters are even sold to match either a full or queen sized mattress.
