Schisandra chinensis, generally called Chinese magnolia vine, is a woody climber with green leaves that are shiny. Schisandra creates clusters of white flowers in the spring followed by edible berries in the summer. In temperate climates it doesnât dieback through the winter. Native to China, the Schisandra grows nicely in the U.S. Department of Agriculture plant-hardiness zones 7 through 9. With care this vine can attain heights of 10 to 12-feet, making it a perfect adornment to get trellis or a fence.
The best way to grow
Plant vines that are young outside in following the threat of of frost has passed. Choose an area that’s exposed to morning sun and afternoon shade that is partial.
